The dune of Monsul is one of the largest in Spain and is located in the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park, an impressive paradise of volcanic lands and unusual landscapes that continue to inspire the world of cinema. This natural wonder is just 45 minutes from my home, which has given me the opportunity to photograph it countless times, though always in the same way.

Azul emerged purely experimentally while I was doing various photographic exercises in the park as part of a photography workshop. As I carried out various tests and explored different techniques, the idea arose to play with a cool temperature, specifically setting it at 3000K, with the purpose of creating a fresh and enigmatic atmosphere that would arouse the viewer's curiosity. However, my experimentation did not stop there. I also decided to delve into the high key technique to especially highlight the areas of highest brightness, thus giving more prominence to the shadows in the composition. This choice proved to be fundamental, as it allowed me to achieve an aesthetic result that completely captivated me. Additionally, on certain occasions, the final image managed to evoke the grainy texture characteristic of photographic films.
